Title: Placarding Overpriced
Year of creation: 2006
Owner: Andrej Rozman – Roza and Radovan Jenko
Work info: Black & White poster and placarding action in the city
Dimensions: A4
Description of work:
With this project the authors pointed out the problem of organisers of small cultural events in Ljubljana. The cheapest placarding in Ljubljana is over the top of costs that most cultural workers can afford. Andrej Rozman – Roza has performed the placarding action at different public spaces in Ljubljana. The poster was originally made in PDF format, thus suitable for distribution by e-mailing and xeroxing.
The project was presented and published in some media, among them:
- Peter Petrovčič: Placarding overpriced looks for a place for a small poster in Ljubljana, Mladina weekly, no.14, 2006
- Andrej Rozman Roza, On Theatre Poster, Delo daily, Culture, May 5, 2006
- Slavko Pezdir, Culture in the bush of billboards, Delo daily, Culture, May 5, 2006
Andrej Rozman – Roza (1955)
Poet, writer, playwright, actor and translator. In 1978 he dropped from Slovenistic studies and founded Pocestno gledališče Predrazpadom (Street Theatre Abouttobreak) together with a group of friends. In the years to come, he was organising a number of prominent tours of international street theatre companies in Ljubljana overcoming the fear of the-then authorities from spontaneous happenings in the streets. Between 1981 and 1995 he was leader of alternative theatre company Ana Monro and the initiator of improvisation theatre competitions in Slovenia.
He is writing parodies and comic poems, children’s tales and theatre pieces both for children and adults; he is adapting classical texts for other media, transposes them into reality or simply translates them. In March 2003 he founded Rozinteater (Roza’s Theatre) as the smallest possible theatre. His works are published in numerous textbooks and anthologies (Smile Under Tears, Slovenian Laughter, The Flower of Slovenian Parody, Theatre Pieces, Other Theatre Pieces, Golden Bee…) Among other rewards for his work, he received Ježek’s and Levstik’s Award.
